Tiny Home Builders Serving Texas

Cowboy Tiny Homes designs and builds custom tiny homes, ADUs, park models and tiny homes on wheels in San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and across rural Texas.

One Builder, Many Different Rulebooks

Texas has no single statewide tiny home law. Instead, what you can build depends on your city, your county, your deed restrictions and the type of home you choose. Austin has opened most single-family lots to additional units, San Antonio allows ADUs in many residential districts, Dallas has historically required special approval for rental ADUs in much of the city, Fort Worth allows them in some districts with conditions, and Houston relies on deed restrictions rather than traditional zoning. Step outside city limits and the rules change again.

That is why every Cowboy Tiny Homes project starts with a feasibility study for your exact address. We check zoning, setbacks, restrictions, floodplains and utilities before we design, so the home we draw is one you can actually permit, finance and live in. Choose your area below to see what we build there and what to know before you start.

Rural Texas & Hill Country

Building on Ranch Land, Lake Lots and Acreage

Some of our favorite projects are far from any city: a guest cabin on family land, a park model near a deer lease, a tiny home on wheels on a few acres in the Hill Country. Unincorporated land usually means no zoning, but you will still plan for deed restrictions, septic permits, water wells or rural water supply, electric service, driveway access and floodplain maps.

Cowboy Tiny Homes builds across Texas, so if your property is not near one of the cities above, reach out anyway. We will tell you honestly whether it is a good fit.

Before you buy land, check:

  • City limits, ETJ or unincorporated county
  • Deed restrictions and HOA covenants
  • Floodplain status
  • Water, septic or sewer and electric access
  • Road access for delivery and construction
