Terms of Sale for House Plans
What you get when you buy a Cowboy Tiny Homes plan set, how delivery and refunds work, and what the drawings are — and are not.
Last updated October 30, 2026. By purchasing a house plan from Cowboy Tiny Homes you agree to these terms.
Plan license
When you buy a plan you receive a license to build one (1) home from that plan. The plans, drawings and designs remain the intellectual property of Cowboy Tiny Homes and are protected by copyright. You may make copies as needed to build that one home, including copies for your builder, engineer, lender, insurer and building department. You may not resell, share, publish or reuse the plans to build additional homes without buying another license.
Planning documentation, not stamped drawings
Each plan set is generated from the plan's design and includes construction drawings, electrical and plumbing layouts, a materials list and a cost estimate. These are planning and permit-development documents. They are not sealed by an engineer or architect, and framing sizes, the slab design, electrical and plumbing layouts, quantities and costs are planning information that must be verified before construction.
It is your responsibility to have the plans reviewed by your building department and, wherever your city, county, lender or insurer requires it, designed, reviewed or sealed by a Texas-licensed engineer or architect, and to obtain all permits before you build. In particular:
- Foundations: Texas clay soils vary from lot to lot. The slab shown is a typical stiffened slab; the final foundation must follow a site-specific geotechnical report and an engineer's design.
- Wind: the plans assume 115 mph inland design wind. Houston-area and Gulf Coast sites need engineered wind design and, inside the Texas Department of Insurance catastrophe area, TDI windstorm certification.
- Home type rules: park models must be built and certified to ANSI A119.5 by a manufacturer; tiny homes on wheels must meet TxDMV trailer, size and weight rules; ADUs must meet your city's zoning rules.
Credit toward a build
If Cowboy Tiny Homes builds the home for you under a signed construction contract within 12 months of your plan purchase, we credit the full amount you paid for the plan toward that contract. One credit per plan purchase; the credit has no cash value and cannot be combined with a refund.
Orders and delivery
Plans are sold as instant digital downloads. Payment is processed by Stripe; after a successful payment you receive a download link on screen and by email. The link works for 365 days and up to 25 downloads, and you can request a new link at any time from Find my plan download. Prices are in US dollars and may change without notice; the price shown at checkout applies. Sales tax is added at checkout where it applies.
Modifications
You or your licensed professional may modify the plan for your own single build. Modifications made by others are not reviewed or warranted by Cowboy Tiny Homes. We also offer modification quotes.
Refunds
Because plans are digital products that cannot be returned, all sales are final once the files have been downloaded. If you have not downloaded your plan set, contact us within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. If a file is damaged or incomplete, contact us and we will replace it. A refunded order's download link is turned off.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cowboy Tiny Homes is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from use of the plans. Our total liability for any plan purchase is limited to the amount you paid for that plan.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas.
